Tasting Notes

Over the years we have been repeatedly asked by our customers to produce this blend, and we are happy to now be able to offer it. As with our Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Trine showcases the best of our Walla Walla Valley Estate vineyards: Pepper Bridge and Seven Hills. This wine allows more freedom of expression for our winemaker, Jean-Francois Pellet, since it is a creative blend rather than varietal-based wine. Each vintage will contain a unique combination of the five traditional Bordeaux grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot.

The Year

The 2008 growing season had a mind of its own. The vines starting blooming late, but ended up ripening early. Because of the compressed season, we had to work a little harder to tend our vines properly. Nonetheless, we were thrilled with the outcome. The 2008 vintage displays very supple fruit flavors, perfectly balanced with crisp acidity.

Awards & Accolades

“A new blend for Pepper Bridge Winery, Trine is named for the three partners and includes all five Bordeaux red grapes. Tannic and earthy, with powerful core of dark fruit, this needs more bottle time to fully integrate. Layers of fruit are mixed with loam, iron, licorice and espresso, full-bodied and deep.”
