2009 Pepper Bridge Vineyard

2009 Pepper Bridge Vineyard

Tasting Notes

Aromas of dark cherries, cola and a pleasant smokiness overlay notes of black plums, blackberries, cedar and fresh-tilled earth fill the 2009 Pepper Bridge Vineyard. Just a hint of fresh violets, coffee and vanilla lead to a luxurious mouth feel. Packed with flavors of black cherries, mixed dark berries and toasted vanilla, this plush wine is balanced out perfectly by crisp acidity and structured tannins.

The Year

The 2009 vintage is the result of a roller coaster growing season. Mother Nature could not make up her mind! A wet, cooler spring gave way to early, hot summer, days in May, leading to a late bud break. Then it cooled off once again – and then proceeded to warm again. All of this weather change made for an exciting harvest of smaller berries with amazing, concentrated fruit and polished tannins. Incredible dark garnet color, great fruit intensity and subtle minerality make our 2009 vintage exceptionally structured and balanced.

Awards & Accolades

“A powerful blend of Merlot 55%, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Petite Verdot, this has tannins so firm and structured the wine seems built for the ages. The scent only hints at black plum at the outset, gathering like a blossom fragrance as the wine opens. After a day its contours become more distinct, predicting a long life ahead.”
