Tasting Notes
At first, the aromas of this wine are reminiscent of foraging for berries in the nearby Blue Mountains. Nuances of black tea, freshly brewed coffee, and clove linger behind bright, energetic notes of mixed berries and wildflowers. Earthly scents of brambles, stones, and the forest lead to softer notes of a dusty baseball glove. On the palate, raspberries lead the way, along with blackberries, cherries, currants, and hints of orange zest. This selection from our namesake vineyard offers seductive texture, zingy acidity, and a long, smooth finish.
The Year
From beginning to end, this was a cool year. The Walla Walla Valley experienced no 100-degree days for the first time in well over a decade. Despite the cooler weather, our vineyards were still able to reach full ripening, with harvest occurring approximately three weeks late. The longer hang time led to layered, nuanced flavors with vibrancy and natural balance.
