2018 Seven Hills Vineyard

2018 Seven Hills Vineyard

Tasting Notes

2018 Seven Hills Vineyard is synonymous with expressive red fruit and a mineral backbone, and this vintage is no exception. Scents of cherry notes and hints of cassis lead the way, followed closely by Moroccan spices, hints of dusty cedar, and the intrigue of orange oil. The first sip of this wine shows bright acidity with polished tannins and a lush mid-palate. The long, dense finish hints at the 2018 vintage being a powerhouse for years to come.

The Year

The 2018 harvest kicked off with a nice even spring. July brought in hotter temperatures, as well as some smoke from surrounding fires. But by the second week of August, the weather cooled off considerably to usher in one of the most ideal ripening seasons in recent history. September brought beautiful, mild weather, offering the fruit several extra weeks to hang during long, sun-filled fall days. Harvest wrapped up on October 15th producing wines that are balanced with great fruit expression. A harvest to remember, indeed!

Awards & Accolades

93 Points, Jeb Dunnuck

“One of my favorites in the lineup… This medium-bodied, elegant, incredibly pure 2018 has ample red and black fruits, some background oak, light, polished tannins, and classic, Bordeaux-like notes of tobacco, chocolate, and cedarwood.”

93 Points, Wine & Spirits

“It has the lift that’s typical of Seven Hills cabernet, with a sweet red lining around darker fruit. Scents of cedar and tobacco leaf give a savory touch to the texture. Powerfully concentrated and built to age.”
