2019 Sauvignon Blanc

2019 Sauvignon Blanc

Tasting Notes

Beginning with scents of honeydew melon, white peach, and guava, the prominent fruit notes in this 2019 Sauvignon Blanc, intermingle with wet stone and green tea. The palate exhibits a complex mouthfeel with hints of quince and citrus fruit. Bright acidity gives this wine a powerful finish.

The Year

The growing season began with cold temperatures and snowfall in February and March. Bud break was right on time and bloom occurred a bit earlier than normal, on June 1st, thanks to some really nice weather in May. Summertime temperatures were normal with plenty of heat units. In the second week of August, the weather became milder than normal and allowed us to have a fantastic fall with beautiful hanging time. Harvest started in mid-September and continued into early October. We got some frost the mid-October, but all of our grapes were picked by then. Characteristics of this vintage show wonderful acidity and impeccable balance.

Awards & Accolades

“The 2019 Pepper Bridge Winery Sauvignon Blanc is a vibrant and beautifully textured new release that really needs a bright sunny day. Layers lemon oil and kiwi combine with green papaya and gooseberry tones on the palate. Seamless and soft, showing a great combination of weight and finesse, this beautiful wine will provide drinking enjoyment over the next seven plus years. This is Washington meets Bordeaux Blanc.”

“Lots of tart lemon and white grapefruit emerge from the 2019 Pepper Bridge Winery Sauvignon Blanc, and it’s medium-bodied, with a pretty, Bordeaux Blanc – like character, some sappy herb notes, and a clean, lengthy finish. It’s a classy, impeccably made Sauvignon Blanc to drink over the coming 2-4 years.”

-Jeb Dunnuck, 90 points
