2023 Pepper Bridge Vineyard

Tasting Notes

The 2023 Pepper Bridge Vineyard opens with aromatics of dark fruit followed by red cherry, cocoa, and fennel pollen. Subtle savory notes add depth and complexity to the bouquet. On the palate, dark plum and cherry are complemented by cocoa and umami-driven earth tones. Smooth, integrated tannins and balanced acidity provide structure, creating a wine that is both approachable now and built for aging.

The Year

The 2023 growing season in the Walla Walla Valley began with a late budbreak in the end of April through early May. Due to the ideal spring weather, bloom happened in record time, in less than 30 days in parts of the vineyards. Summer was one of the hottest on record, but with steady but not extreme heat, leading to ripe fruit that maintained freshness and acidity, and kicked off an early harvest in September. The resulting wines showcase ripe luscious tannins, balanced tension and complexity, promising exciting developments over the next decade and beyond.
